Body Percussion is the art of creating percussive sounds using body
movements and body parts exclusively. As an artform, we have all done it at some time or another without thought and it is not surprising that it is one of the earliest folk arts in many cultures.
Body percussion may be performed on its own or as an accompaniment to song.
The folk traditions of many countries include the use of body percussion.
Examples of these include Indonesian Saman; Ethiopian armpit music; Flamenco
Pamas; South African gumboot; and from the USA, the Hambone.
